SENIOR MANAGEMENT

Geoffrey F. Cox, Ph.D., Chairman, President and CEO

Geoffrey F. Cox, Ph.D., has more than 30 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology experience. In 1984, Dr. Cox joined Genzyme Corporation in the U.K. and became Senior Vice President, Operations in the U.S. in 1988. Dr. Cox later became Executive Vice President responsible for operations and the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and genetics business units of Genzyme. Prior to joining Genzyme, Dr. Cox was General Manager of U.K. manufacturing operations for Gist-Brocades. In 1997, Dr. Cox became Chairman and CEO of Aronex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and subsequently, in July 2001, became Chairman, President and CEO of GTC Biotherapeutics. Dr. Cox is also a member of the Board of Directors of BIO and sits on their Emerging Companies Section and Healthcare Section Governing Body Committees. In 2007, Dr. Cox was appointed non-executive chairman of the board of directors for Nabi Biopharmaceuticals.

John B. Green, Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer

John B. Green joined GTC Biotherapeutics in 1994 and is responsible for financial and general corporate planning, including preparation and filing of SEC documents, financial budgeting and planning, capital asset planning and leasing, credit and financing, and oversight of all financial operations for the corporation.

Mr. Green is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 20 years of financial experience, including 10 within the biotechnology industry as Vice President, Finance and Administration and as Assistant Treasurer for TSI Corporation.

Mr. Green received a Master's degree in Business Administration from Boston University Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross.

Harry M. Meade, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Research and Development

Harry M. Meade joined GTC Biotherapeutics in 1994, and is a founding member of the company. Dr. Meade directs all transgenic molecular biology research and development efforts conducted within the company, including the evaluation of technologies having potential to increase the efficiencies of transgenic protein expression.

Dr. Meade has over 25 years of research experience, the last ten years' pertaining to transgenic research and the development of protein expression systems. He has held scientific positions with Genzyme Corporation, Biogen, and Merck. Dr. Meade also is a co-inventor on the first issued patent relating to the production of therapeutic proteins in the milk of animals.

Dr. Meade received his Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed his post-doctoral studies at Harvard University. He holds Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Electrical Engineering from Union College.

Richard A. Scotland, Senior Vice President, Regulatory Affairs

Richard Scotland joined GTC Biotherapeutics in 2002 and holds the position of Senior Vice President, Regulatory Affairs. Mr. Scotland is responsible for directing worldwide regulatory activities pertaining to the development of therapeutic proteins derived from the milk of transgenic animals.

Mr. Scotland has over 20 years of regulatory affairs experience with various biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies including Serono Laboratories, Genzyme Corporation and Astra Pharmaceuticals.

Richard Scotland holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from St. Joseph's College in North Windham, Maine.

Daniel S. Woloshen, Senior Vice President & General Counsel

Daniel S. Woloshen joined GTC Biotherapeutics in 1999. Mr. Woloshen provides legal advice and counsel for all matters pertaining to the company's business operations, such as the negotiation and drafting of contractual agreements and letters of intent, consulting agreements and the maintenance of the company's intellectual property position. His scope of responsibility includes securities compliance, insider trading, employee relations, and other corporate legal matters.

Mr. Woloshen has over 25 years of corporate counsel and general legal experience, including positions with Philips Medical Systems North America; Biotherapeutics, Merck, and Baxter, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Air Force. He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, Tennessee, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Woloshen received a Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School and holds a Bachelor's degree from Colby College.

Suzanne Groet, Vice President Therapeutic Protein Development

Suzanne Groet is a founding member of GTC Biotherapeutics and has been with the company since 1982. She has been a member of the ATIII program since 1990.

Ms. Groet is responsible for all activities related to the ATIII program worldwide, including the development of expanded indications, clinical and regulatory submissions, premarketing and subsequent marketing and sales strategies and activities.

Ms. Groet received her Master's degree in botany from the University of Connecticut, performed graduate studies in oceanography at the University of Hawaii and holds a Bachelor's degree in Botany from the University of Rhode Island.

Ashley Lawton, Ph.D., Vice President, Business Development

Ashley Lawton, Ph.D., has more than twenty years experience in business development and general management within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Through his roles at Eli Lilly, Celltech, RepliGen, Genzyme, and Phylos he has broad expertise in the development and commercialization of protein therapeutics.

Dr. Lawton is responsible for Business Development at GTC Biotherapeutics, with a focus on developing the Follow-On Biologics business and the commercialization of internal early-stage research programs.

Dr. Lawton graduated from Southampton University, UK with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and a B.Sc. in Human Physiology and Biochemistry. More recently he graduated from Boston University with an MBA in General Management.

Thomas E. Newberry, Vice President, Corporate Communications

Thomas E. Newberry joined GTC Biotherapeutics in May 2000. Mr. Newberry is responsible for GTC's corporate communication programs - including investor and public relations, media relations, presentations and publications.

Mr. Newberry has over 20 years of experience in investor relations, public relations, engineering, training and regulatory programs in the healthcare and power industries.

Mr. Newberry has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Carol A. Ziomek, Ph.D., Vice President of Development

Carol A. Ziomek is a founding member of GTC Biotherapeutics. Dr. Ziomek manages the technical aspects of product development for recombinant antithrombin III, from gene construct to final product production, and leads the multi-disciplinary team that is developing the rhATIII viral and pathogen safety strategies. She also is a member of the technology evaluation team assessing new technologies for improved efficiency of the transgenic production process.

Dr. Ziomek has over 20 years of transgenic production experience, including several years with Genzyme Corporation as head of the transgenic embryology department and as Staff Scientist at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology.

Dr. Ziomek received a Ph.D. in Biology from Johns Hopkins University, performed her post-doctorate at the University of Cambridge, England, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Wilkes College, Pennsylvania.
